The Lambda Free Light Chain assay is a highly sensitive blood test that measures the concentration of “free” lambda proteins. In a healthy immune system, plasma cells produce two types of light chains—Lambda and Kappa—which typically bind with heavy chains to create complete antibodies (immunoglobulins). Those that remain unbound in the bloodstream are termed “free light chains.”
