Brucellosis is caused by Brucella bacteria, typically contracted through consuming unpasteurized dairy products or through direct contact with infected livestock (cattle, goats, or pigs). When the bacteria enter the body, IgM (Immunoglobulin M) is the first antibody the immune system produces. It usually appears within 1 to 2 weeks of infection and peaks around 3 months.
