BARIUM UPPER GI

Overview

The Barium Upper GI Study is a special diagnostic imaging procedure used to examine the upper gastrointestinal tract, including the esophagus (food pipe), stomach, and the first part of the small intestine (duodenum).

In this test, the patient drinks a contrast liquid called barium, which coats the lining of the digestive tract. X-ray images are then taken to detect ulcers, reflux, tumors, blockages, or other abnormalities.

It is commonly recommended for patients with chronic acidity, abdominal pain, vomiting, or swallowing difficulties.
