VARICELLA ZOSTER VIRUS IGM (CHICKEN POX) – INFECT

Overview

The VZV IgM test identifies the “immediate” antibodies produced by the immune system when it first encounters the Varicella-Zoster virus or when the virus reactivates. These antibodies typically appear within 1–3 days after the rash starts and remain detectable for only a few weeks.

Why Book This Test?

You should consider this test if you are currently experiencing:

  • Acute Rash: Clusters of itchy, fluid-filled blisters that eventually crust over.
  • Fever and Fatigue: Often appearing just before or alongside the rash.
  • Atypical Symptoms: When a rash doesn’t look like classic Chickenpox but the virus is suspected.
  • Potential Exposure: If you are at high risk (pregnant or immunocompromised) and have been exposed to someone with the virus.
