Overview
The TPHA test is used to detect antibodies specifically directed against Treponema pallidum. It is widely considered the “gold standard” for confirming a Syphilis diagnosis after an initial screening test comes back reactive. Because these antibodies remain in the body for a very long time, the TPHA is also excellent for detecting past infections.
