Overview
The Microfilaria Antigen Test is a blood test used to detect the presence of filarial parasite antigens, which indicate an active filarial infection.
Unlike antibody tests (which detect past exposure), the antigen test directly detects components of the parasite, making it more accurate for confirming current lymphatic filariasis.
This test is commonly recommended in individuals with swelling of limbs, recurrent fever, lymph node enlargement, or symptoms suggestive of filarial disease, especially in endemic regions.
