A Malarial Parasite (MP) test is a diagnostic blood analysis used to detect the presence of Plasmodium parasites in the blood. Malaria is a serious, sometimes fatal, disease spread by the bite of an infected Anopheles mosquito.
The test is typically performed as a “Stat” (emergency) procedure when a patient presents with high fever, chills, and flu-like symptoms, especially if they have recently traveled to a region where malaria is common.
