A Uine Cytology test is a microscopic examination of cells found in the urine. Like a Pap smear for the bladder, this test is used to detect cancer and precancerous cells that have “shed” from the lining of the urinary tract.
While a routine urinalysis checks for chemicals and blood, cytology is a highly specialized search for malignant cells originating from the bladder, ureters, or kidneys.
